From Conflict to Cooperation: International Effort to Stabilize Gaza

Global Leaders Convene in Doha for Post Conflict Strategy

DOHA, Qatar December 16, 2025
World leaders and senior diplomats are gathering in Doha this week for a critical international conference aimed at shaping the future of a proposed International Stabilization Force (ISF) for Gaza. The meeting, hosted by the United States Central Command, brings together representatives from more than 25 countries to discuss how a multinational mission could operate to support peace and stability in the region.

A Fragile Peace in Gaza

The proposed force comes in the wake of a fragile ceasefire that has held since October 2025, following a devastating conflict that left Gaza in ruins. Though violence has decreased, political leaders and diplomats stress the importance of longer-term strategies to prevent a return to hostilities. The Doha conference aims to outline the force’s command structure, operational framework, and roles for contributing nations, ensuring that it can effectively stabilize the region without becoming involved in combat operations against local armed groups.

“Stability in Gaza is not just a local concern it’s a global responsibility,” said one senior U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity. “The goal of this force is to protect civilians, assist reconstruction, and support local governance while maintaining international standards.”

Coordination Among Nations

The conference will address crucial questions, including how participating countries will coordinate logistics, personnel, and rules of engagement. Nations from the Middle East, Europe, and Asia have already expressed interest in contributing engineers, medical teams, and security advisors. Officials hope that agreements reached at Doha will allow the stabilization force to begin deploying in early 2026.

A significant focus of the discussions is how the multinational force can work alongside local authorities while respecting the complex political dynamics in Gaza, including the influence of groups like Hamas. Experts note that cooperation and diplomacy will be just as important as the logistical planning of the force itself.

International Support and U.N. Backing

The stabilization initiative is supported by a United Nations Security Council resolution passed in November 2025, which authorizes a multinational mission and sets out guidelines for its operation. The resolution also encourages member states to assist with reconstruction, governance reforms, and humanitarian aid, providing a legal and diplomatic framework for the ISF.

Analysts say the Doha conference represents a major step in international peacebuilding efforts. “If successful, this force could serve as a model for collaborative stabilization missions worldwide,” said Dr. Laila Al-Khatib, a Middle East security analyst. “It’s an ambitious initiative, but one that is urgently needed in Gaza.”

Looking Ahead

As the conference unfolds, the world watches to see whether participating nations can agree on a concrete plan that balances security, humanitarian aid, and diplomatic sensitivity. With global attention focused on Gaza, the decisions made in Doha over the next few days could shape the region’s future and offer a pathway toward lasting stability and peace.
